U.S.T.A. ARTHUR ASHE TENNIS STADIUM

The Arthur Ashe Stadium located in Flushing Meadows, NY, is a state-of-the-art tennis facility that was commissioned by the United States Tennis Association and opened on August 25, 1997 in memory of the late tennis great, Arthur Ashe.
This 1,500 ton structural steel project was fabricated by Canron Inc. Restrictions at the construction site, and the architects desire to maintain a high quality finish and appearance for the exposed steel, led to Blastech being awarded this prestigious contract. The fabricated sections were protected with a high quality coating system applied by trained Blastech personnel at our Brantford facilities.
All surfaces were abrasive cleaned to SSPC-SP10. The coating system consisted of a prime coat of zinc rich moisture cured urethane, an intermediate coat of epoxy followed by a finish coat of polyurethane. After being allowed to through-cure, the coated fabrications were carefully packed and transported to the Flushing Meadows site for erection.
